Stepping into the New Year

What if we stepped into this brand-new year with an invitation to look more closely at where our attention is?

This month, we’re anchoring into the theme Focus on What Matters—a gentle but powerful shift of awareness toward the moments, choices, and practices that truly nourish your life.

In the yogic tradition, this focus lives in the ajna chakra (third eye- between the eyebrows), the center of inner vision. It asks us to harness the scattered gaze, draw our awareness inward, and truly see what’s in front of us—both the magic tucked inside everyday moments (like an unexpected smile from someone) and the signals your body offers about what it needs. When your gaze becomes intentional, your energy follows. And that’s when things begin to feel more balanced each day, not as chaotic or dramatic.

One way this theme has been supporting me lately is during some of the challenging life events I’ve been navigating. I found myself pausing more often, pulling back to see the bigger picture, and in that wider view I started noticing these beautiful magic moments woven in with the hard stuff. When I focused on what truly mattered—the sweet moments with friends, being held by a community that’s intentionally growing and healing together, and the simplicity of a quiet stroll in nature—I realized how much clarity and comfort those moments were offering me. I want to focus on that…

This month, you’ll feel this theme woven throughout everything we’re practicing together:

  • Virtual Yoga Deep Dive: cultivate steadiness of focus, refine your inner sight, and explore practices that clear out the mind chatter.

  • In-person classes: movement, breath, and drishti (gaze) work to train the mind to settle and see clearly.

  • Ayurvedic Reset — January 13th start! Begin the year by returning to what matters most: your health, your rhythms, your energy.

  • Ayurvedic Wellness Talk: January 24th (N. Arizona Yoga Gathering): explore how Ayurvedic wisdom helps you prioritize Winter wellness and create clarity in your daily life.

Let January be your invitation to slow down a bit, realign your gaze, and choose the practices that support you from the inside out. I’m excited to walk with you into this new year—with focus, intention, and a deeper sense of what truly matters.
