Are your actions matching your words?
Have you caught yourself lately saying that you want to prioritize your health and then it doesn’t happen?
Like you really wanna make better choices around your well-being, but then get caught in the same old patterns that aren’t helpful?
Yeah, me too… you’re not alone.
I’ve caught myself recently doing things that don NOT feel like they are matching my words. And it’s given me the opportunity to pause and really ask myself, “what’s going on?” For me, this has looked like me saying, “I’m gonna get to bed by 10pm at the latest!”
And then, staying up later and feeling this low level exhaustion for a couple of weeks. Ugh
To be fair to myself, there has been a lot going on in my life. So it’s understandable that maybe the bedtime rituals have been shortened or even left out. But then I step back and pause. What is it that I know?
I know that sleep gives me superpowers.
I know that I LOVE all my evening rituals that calm my body to prepare me for sleep.
I even know how much sleep I need each night to wake up fresh and ready for the day.
And yet, there have been too many times lately that I’m choosing to stay up way past my preferred bedtime and on the screens way too much. So my actions aren’t matching my words…
So my commitment to myself this month is to really watch when my words are not matching my actions. I will kindly remind myself to get my booty in bed earlier this Fall.
Ready to match those words with some fun actions? Come see me in Sedona. You can come in for a personalized Yoga & Ayurvedic Retreat to really set those health intentions.
This month’s Healthy Habit:
Sit, don't stew...
I have had a couple times this month where my whirly-swirly mind has completely taken over! Like I have no control over where my mind is taking me… or that’s how it feels at times.
When this happened the other day, I heard, “sit don’t stew!”
So I went and gave myself 10 minutes to just sit in meditation watching my breath. I tracked it up and down my spine, slowly, and with a little pause between breaths. I watched as my mind that was in spaztastic mode, went into chill mode.
The crazy mind loops that I was caught in suddenly found clarity. I could feel my shoulders relax. And my jaw unclenched. It was great to SIT and not STEW on my mind stuff.
I invite you to try this and let me know how it goes. We always think we don’t have enough time for everything, but just taking 10 minutes to sit can give you hours of mental time back.
